How Scottish Health Boards embrace prof-to-prof advice to reduce unnecessary attendances - Consultant Connect

During this free webinar, the speaker panel explored how Health Boards are using Consultant Connect to support clinical decision making and to enable presentation to the most appropriate care setting the first time. The system fits around local pathways and connects clinicians, e.g. in primary care, community, or ambulance services immediately with local specialists for advice. Current use cases are focused on supporting flow navigation to avoid unnecessary presentations and include the ability for clinicians to call back patients (e.g. those directed to ED via NHS 24/111) via recorded and tracked activity lines as a way of enhanced triage.

Webinar Speakers:

  • Dr Gordon McNeish, Consultant, Emergency Medicine, University Hospital Hairmyres, NHS Lanarkshire
  • Dr Ron Cook, Clinical Director, Ninewells Hospital, NHS Tayside
  • Susan Bean, Clinical Care Group Manager, Ninewells Hospital, NHS Tayside
  • Jonathon Will, Clinical Effectiveness Lead, SAS Specialist Paramedic & Tayside Mountain Rescue Officer, Scottish Ambulance Service
