About the panel discussion:
Watch our NHS panel discussion where experts shared how NHS systems across the UK are improving urgent and emergency care (UEC) services. You’ll learn how rapid access to clinical advice is reducing unnecessary A&E visits, easing handover delays, and improving patient care.
Hear how NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West (BOB) ICB have significantly improved their A&E performance, climbing 30 places in the national rankings and now ranking as the second-best performing A&E in the South East of England. Joe Matthews, Senior Urgent and Emergency Care Lead at NHS BOB ICB will share their key learnings, challenges they have overcome, and practical steps for areas looking to improve their A&E performance.
Dr Gordon McNeish, Associate Medical Director and Emergency Medicine Consultant at NHS Lanarkshire will showcase NHS Lanarkshire’s innovative Flow Navigation Centre and their successful ‘Call Before Convey’ initiative. Gordon will walk us through their journey from initial setup to scaling and sustaining impact and share how this model is improving patient-centred care while reducing system pressure.
Peter Green, Clinical Development Lead – Service Transformation (AHP) at Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust will share the benefits of giving paramedics access to rapid clinical advice for a wide range of pathways to reduce unnecessary A&E attendances. He will also introduce the Advanced Paramedic Practitioner Navigation (APP NAV) programme, offering fast access to senior clinical input for complex or unusual cases.
