Greenwich: Innovative technology supports GPs to make right decision first time

Since October 2016 over 1,700 patients in Greenwich have been spared an avoidable visit to hospital thanks to the CCG’s decision to pilot the use of innovative telephone technology delivered by Consultant Connect.

Irene Grayson, Associate Director Primary Care Commissioning, Greenwich CCG was instrumental in introducing Consultant Connect. She comments: “Key to delivering safe services to patients is ensuring the right decision is made early in the patient pathway. Consultant Connect has provided our GPs with an opportunity to have a direct conversation with specialist consultants to provide advice and guidance on the best pathway for the patient.  This has meant for some patients, getting access to the right treatment in primary care without having to attend an outpatient appointment.”
