We’ve been asked a few times whether the results we are gathering from our customers using Consultant Connect are reflected in those customers’ referral / admissions data. As Consultant Connect is quite new (the first project launched in June last year), we have been waiting for official data to catch up with us.
Last week, one of our CCG customers told us the outcome of their analysis of a 4-specialty Consultant Connect project.
They found that Consultant Connect was responsible for a 6% reduction in total outpatient referrals as measured across all specialties.
This conclusion had been reached through analysing their figures with reference to a “QIPP Dashboard”. This meant that the impacts of other projects were also taken into account when considering why referral volumes had dropped.
The impact of Consultant Connect on referral volumes in the 4 specialties it covers is significant enough to effect overall referral volumes. And this project is only in its 3rd month – so we expect performance to improve further as GP engagement continues to increase.
The figures will not be published until 6 months of data is available, but our customer has said that they are happy to speak with any other CCGs about these results and their experience using Consultant Connect – please get in touch if you would like to speak with them.
